Invisible Pathways (2001) for computer-generated sounds
Duration: 5:17
Instrumentation Details:
Computer-generated Sounds
Program Note:
Invisible Pathways was composed in January 2001 as an exploration of the
abstract associations created between different types of music in the memory. The sound material was derived from sampled
improvisations on a Turkish drum known as the dumbek as well as several other samples from music of other cultures including
Tibetan throat singing, Aborigine music, and music from Azerbaijan. The title reflects the composer’s intention to recreate
the mental connections made from the influence of these unique musical sources and in the process create a piece of music
that projects the synthesis of these materials onto to the electro-acoustic plane.
